I norra hamnen i Malmö finns ett inhägnat naturområde mitt i en industripark där den rödlistade grönfläckiga paddan lever. I området trivs även den regionalt invasiva växten havtorn som är ett direkt hot mot paddan. Projektet resulterade i ett verksamhetskoncept vars huvudsyfte var att bekämpa havtornet och sprida kunskap om problematiken kring invasiva arter. Detta möjliggjordes genom att använda havtornet som en materialresurs för att finansiera bekämpningsarbetet.
Design for biodiversity
In norra hamnen in Malmö there is a nature area in the middle of an industrial park where the endangered european green toad lives. The regionally invasive buckthorn also thrives in the area, which is a direct threat to the toad. The project resulted in a business concept with the main purpose to combat the buckthorn and spread knowledge about the problems with invasive species. This was made possible by using the buckthorn as a material resource to finance the concept.
